The Island

Grenada is a rolling, mountainous island covered with fragrant spice trees and rare tropical flowers. Beautiful, picture-perfect beaches line the coast while inland Grenada boasts rivers, waterfalls and dense, lush forest. The island is famed for its colourful, rich history and vibrant, living cultural heritage. Local festivals, fairs and markets remain a way of life. The capital, St. George's, is widely held to be the loveliest city in the entire Caribbean.

The diving

Average water temperature: 28 Celsius

Wetsuit used: 3mm Shortie

The diving was some of the best we have experienced in the Caribbean.

The normal itinerary for the day was a one morning and one afternoon dive which were all from a boat and normally about 30 minutes from the dive centre. The dive sites were varied but the most interesting were on the day trip to the uninhabited island at the north.

The dives mentioned below should give you a idea about the diving.

The Bianca C

A large wreck which is about 10 minutes from the Dive centre. the start of the wreck is actually only at about 10 metres and is an easy, interesting wreck dive

Face of the Devil.

The dive is at the north end of the island and was accessed during the day trip. The seascape was spectacular with the soft and hard coral which was full of life including nurse sharks, big spotted eagle ray, barracudas, lobsters to mention just a few.

Deep Blue - Part of the twin sisters

Once again the seascape was spectacular with the soft and hard coral but the most memorial part of the dive was towards the end. At about 5-10 metres we were amazed to see Gannets, the sea birds were diving all around us and taking fish from the school we were swimming through.

Food and entertainment

The holiday was all inclusive so the majority of the meals were taken at the hotel but the local restaurants are very good and well worth the effort.
